Disco Dusty Blue!

If you know me personally, then you know that I absolutely love any type of "greige" color. It's... an obsession.
So when I found this Fingerpaints color in "Stunning Stilettos" (which totally doesn't fit the color, IMO) on sale for $1.99, I was all over it!
Also, at Urban Outfitters I was entranced by a couple of their colors which happened to be on sale 2 for $8... how could a girl say no, right? (The other color I got will be in a later nail post!) This gorgeous glitter polish is called "Dust", which reminds me of fairy dust... I think I may just watch Peter Pan after posting this.

What do you guys think of "greige" colors? Love 'em? Hate 'em?
PS: I'm thinking about doing a "Products I've hit pan on" post... would you be interested in something like that? I've been really trying to use the makeup that I have and not buy any more until I truly need something. Thoughts?

We'll always have Paris.

A couple of girlfriends and myself went to go get our nails done... that's right, done this weekend. I've never even set foot in a nail salon before, and quite frankly the thought of it scares me. I really dislike the idea of acrylic or anything other than polish on top of my natural nail. I don't know what it is, but I automatically think of every horrible fungal scenario in my head... but I digress.
We decided on just simple manicures, so I pick out this gorgeous OPI color called "We'll always have Paris". I was done. A vampy almost black red? Yes please.

Now, I've always heard things about this polish, but seeing as how it was from a collection back in 2008, when I was simply but a 'natural nail' gal, I had no idea the amazing-ness of it. It's the kind of color that looks black from far away, but close up you can see the red. SO NICE.
However, as much as I like this color (and was THIS close to overtaking Ulta for it), I actually have something like it in my collection. My internet BFF gave me a Nails, Inc. duo for my birthday, and the color included named Chelsea is a dead on dupe. YES! Thank you, Lauren for saving me 9 bucks! <3
If you don't already have something like this in your collection, I highly suggest you try this out. It's great for when you want something dramatic, but not as stark as a black!

NOTD... or night.

So after having OPI's Designer Debetter on my nails for approximately forever, I decided to delve into my new, unused nail polish pile. And don't try and tell me that you don't have one of these... I know you.

I chose Essie's Soiree Mauve for my next nail of choice. As you can see, it's a gorgeous dusty mauve that has just the slightest tinge of what I like to refer to as "greige". I freaking love greige colors.

This was two coats (I probably could have used three) with Seche Vite over top. I think it's a great pink that is unique enough to where you won't get tired of it. It reminds me a bit of Essie's Angora Cardi which is a pretty popular shade, although I do believe that color is much deeper.

I'm pretty stoked on this at the moment, I feel like my hands look a bit more polished and professional without being boring, yay! :)

Revlon Lip Butters.

I caved.
I totally, utterly, and miserably caved.
I've been seeing so much hype for these things since September(?) and boy, do these things not disappoint.
I resisted getting all of them, seeing as how now my makeup collection has been eating me alive... SO I picked up five. The first one I purchased was Sugar Plum that I found at a Target out of town, and I was a woman gone mad trying to find them everywhere and anywhere I thought Revlon might be sold. But alas, they finally arrived at my Walgreen's complete with a very inviting display. I will now no longer tempt myself by setting foot in that store for a while.

Here are the 5 I have in my possession (they have been used so please excuse the lip marks):

Fig Jam, Creme Brule, Pink Truffle, Candy Apple, Sugar Plum

As you can see, these do have some serious color payoff for what is marketed as a "butter". They glide on the lips super smoothly and evenly, and are absolutely perfect for winter when my lips get a hell of a lot drier than they are normally. Retailed at around $7.99 (usually BOGO) I think they're a great value for what they bring to the table.
My one and only complaint is that being a butter, you have to re-apply every two hours or so, depending on eating and drinking.
Would I recommend these? Absolutely. If you're looking for a nice, moisturizing alternative to lipstick I'd say get your hands on some lip butters!

An introduction... of sorts.

Ello!
So lately I've been really obsessed with reading beauty blogs. Makeup collections. Project 10 pans. Reviews. I am ALL ABOUT IT.
I'm an avid fan of watching beauty videos on YouTube, and have spent countless hours in front of the computer oohing and ahing (yeah, I'm really cool) over makeup/skincare/what-have-you... I don't know what it is, but watching/reading about beauty and interacting with people all over the world with one common love is kind of amazing to me.
And since quite frankly I've been too lazy to actually film a video to post on YouTube... well. I've never been regular about it. But lately work and life have kept me from sitting down, looking presentable and filming, so I figure I could give blogging a go!
Here's to hoping that this might be a regular thing... I'm not promising, or making any sort of New Year's Resolution (an automatic fail for me), but maybe, just maybe this can be a nice little outlet for me and my makeup hoarding!
I'm going to try and post some pictures of items that I've picked up recently, give you my opinions and share with you what I love about pretty things that I own too much of. :)
xoxo,
Megan
